My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Jake is a 7 month old Labrador/Golden Retriever mix. He is handsome!

Jake had his FHO surgery (femoral head ostectomy) on May 8th. He is doing very well. The vet has given him the go ahead for additional activities and exercise. Like humans, post hip surgery, Jake will need to continue his range of motion exercises. The vet assured Jake that he is doing "exceptionally well" post surgery.

JAKE NEWS: He continues to heal and do really well altogether. He is continuing to benefit from his routine with range of motion exercising and icing down. Jake will benefit from bonding and training time in obedience class with his new owner. He already sits for treats -- really cute. He is playful, LOVES stuffed animals that squeak. And bring on the belly and chin rubs!! Jake loves to play "chase-chase" with our dog, and our cat too. We don't think he would hurt a cat, however for the kitty's sake, Jake needs a forever family without a cat since most kitties prefer not to play chase with doggies.

Many Golden lovers are not aware of how doomed black dogs, like Jake, are when they are brought into the average animal shelter. Even "Black Goldens," as we call our wonderful mixes often suffer such a fate. You and GRFR are part of the solution.
