I am already neutered, housetrained, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, good with kids, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Dexter was originally rescued from a shelter in the Kansas City, MO area from a shelter by another rescue. The rescue owner recently passed away, and Dexter was transferred to AMPS. We are so grateful to his first Savior as he would have been euthanized at the shelter. He was severely abused, having sustained kicks to the head and body. His ribs were broken at some point and he sustained brain trauma which has resulted in his having seizures. They are controlled by a small dose of phenobarbitrol. It is an inexpensive medication. Please consider giving Dexter a third chance at a loving kind furever home. No animal should be hurt the way he was hurt.
RRMPM does not adopt to homes with underground electric fences. As a Special Needs dog, Dexter's adoption fee is not a set amount, but rather we ask for a donation to help us continue our work saving dogs like Dexter that would not have a chance of adoption or even life with out Rescue.

Rescue Group Info...
Our Mission is simple. To rescue Miniature Pinschers who are unwanted, abandoned, neglected, mistreated or are victims of inhumane treatment and then find responsible, loving and lifetime homes. To educate potential owners about the Miniature Pinscher and their special requirements, to ensure an educated decision when selecting the breed. To counsel owners on solving problems to help them keep their Miniature Pinscher. To educate animal control officers and shelter staff on how to identify the Miniature Pinscher and the special requirements and characteristics of the breed to aid in proper evaluation and placement.
Our Dogs are evaluated by a veterinarian for common health issues, are given required medical care, spayed or neutered and microchipped. We screen every applicant very carefully to ensure that they understand the responsibilities involved in caring properly for a pet. Our responsibility is to place our dogs into homes that will best meet their needs, both physically and emotionally. We look for people with patience, loving hearts, and an understanding of a min pin's needs. A detailed application from which we conduct reference verifications and a home visit with all household members present are pre-adoption requirements. A follow up visit may be scheduled at a future date to ensure that everything is working out well for the dog as well as the family. During this process, our pets are safely and lovingly cared for in private, approved foster homes in which we observe and evaluate each minpin for temperament and behavior, continue with the pet's socialization and training, and provide for their physical well being and health.
Our dogs are all in foster homes at varied locations, but please contact us via email at email@example.com and we will be happy to discuss any dog you are interested in learning more about. We are also at Tractor Supply Co in Lawrence, KS every few months, located east of Lawrence on Hwy 10.
Adopting a Friend is the most important commitment humans can do for themselves as well as for the pet. It is a huge decision and one that should never be taken lightly. Understand that the dog you get from us has already lost it's home and therefore our goal is to make this placement final and forever. Pet adoption is a lifetime commitment that we take very seriously. If you are interested in adopting, we ask that you email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will get back to you with our adoption information.
