Buster's Story...
What a little firecracker we have in Buster. This medium-small dog is only a little over a year old and has all the energy and playfulness of a puppy. He looks like an oversized Jack-Russell and is just as smart and engaging as that popular breed. Buster loves to play with toys, in fact so much so, the handlers use toys as rewards during training rather than food-treats. He greets all comers with enthusiasm and will lean in for smushy cuddles. Buster is a very smart boy and will do best with a family that keeps him engaged physically and mentally and in return this little comedian will keep everyone around him entertained for hours.
Please call the shelter 516-944-8220 during working hours (Mon. to Fri. 9AM-4PM; Sat. 10-4PM) for more information about Buster, the adoption process at the shelter, and to confirm availability. Please go to for more information about and directions to the shelter.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Buster, a Port Washington Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) for sale in Port Washington, or seeking a Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) dog from a breeder in Port Washington.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Port Washington already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Port Washington breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) breeders who help with Terrier (Unknown Type, Medium) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Port Washington paves the way for another one to be saved.
