My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Look at Lona's beautiful smile! She's a gorgeous girl, lady-like, well-mannered and oh-so-gentle. This sweet gal is blossoming before our very eyes!

Seeing her smile it's hard to believe she was once sad, lost, lonely and abandoned by her owner. She once lay still, lifeless in a shelter after her owner was evicted from their home and she was left alone. That's all behind her now thanks to the shelter staff and those at Hope Defined Rescue in NM that worked so hard to help save Lona and get her to Izzy's Place.

Lona is an absolutely amazing, strong, intelligent and yet very gentle girl. She can be shy at first but once you earn her trust she is adoring and loving, and these days it doesnt take long for her to learn to trust. Lona gave her foster mom a kiss today, the very first ever and it melted her foster mom's heart. Now that kiss ONE is out of the way we're sure there will be lot's more to follow!

If you like to cook, Lona will be your best taste-tester! Whenever something's cooking in the kitchen her nose starts twitching, her ears perk up and she quietly sneaks into the kitchen just in case something yummy falls. She loves when Friday gets here because she and the others all get a special treat....a bison or elk bone to chew on. Yum! Lona sure does love Friday's!

Lona also does good on leash and enjoys her daily walks, being brushed and pet, and hanging out with her furry foster siblings. She's a quiet gal, barking only to let her foster mom know if someone new is in the yard. She loves being scratched behind her ears and getting a yummy treat after a bath. She's a really easy-going girl who hopes to find a forever family that will appreciate her and help her continue to break out of her shell.

Lona would love to finally have a home to call her own and she's ready to meet you!

.

Her history involves a bit of mistrust as she was left behind in an eviction. She requires understanding and patience while she learns to trust again. She has learned to trust her foster family and is learning what it is like to be loved and a cherished family member.

He is house trained and worthy of free-roam in her home. She likes walks though she is still a little cautious in approaching people. She would love to find a forever home with a kind, patient family who willl provide her the love she so deserves. She is good with other dogs and older children.
