Martin's Story...
Martin is a very handsome beagle/basset mix who came to us via the German Shepherd Dog Rescue. Unfortunately, he was found to be heart worm positive. The good folks of GSD Rescue provided his heartworm treatment, neutering and all vaccines. He is a very shy little man, prefers to be in his open kennel when the world gets too hectic for him. He is working on his housetraining and is doing well. He does have some accidents in the house, but is showing definite signs of improvement. He will walk on a leash, tends to take his time so he can stop and enjoy smelling the roses. He is very good about going into his kennel when his foster parents leave for work. He definitely finds comfort in having his own space. He is very quiet. While he is timid when meeting new people, it doesn’t take him long to cozy up to them and wait to be petted. He loves being petted. He loves to play with his foster brother. His foster family has a huge fenced in backyard and he enjoys being out with the other dogs. Unlike many beagles, Martin is not a chow hound. He prefers to nibble on his food, so he eats in his kennel where the other dogs can’t gobble his food down before he is done eating.

If you need one word to describe Martin, it’s lovable. Please consider giving this sweet little man a loving home all his own.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Martin, a Pittsburgh Beagle/Basset Hound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Beagle/Basset Hound for sale in Pittsburgh, or seeking a Beagle/Basset Hound dog from a breeder in Pittsburgh.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Pittsburgh already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Pittsburgh breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Beagle/Basset Hound breeders who help with Beagle/Basset Hound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Pittsburgh paves the way for another one to be saved.
