Meet Taquito - the ultimate snuggler!  He is a tiny 4-5 year old Chihuahua mix whose favorite pastime is to be held by people and give them lots of love.  He is a low to moderate energy guy (he will chase lizards - but never catches them), so he does not require daily walks.  He would do great with seniors, simply exchanging cuddles all day.  He weighs about 6 lbs and is easy to pick up and carry around.  Taquito is not much of a barker and likes all new people that come to meet him.

Taquito gets along fine with his 4 foster brothers and sisters because he is a submissive dog, but he would do well as an only dog because he loves getting human lap time.  He is potty trained as long as he has access to an outside patio or yard.  He is also potty pad trained in the house.  Taquito's adoption fee is $175.  If you are interested in this precious little dog, fill out an application!

All of our dogs are in private volunteer foster homes, and as such these individuals are most qualified to answer any questions regarding the dog.

We do not have a central shelter or kennel locations - you must make a private one-on-one meet and greet appointment with each individual dog at the foster family's convenience.  To protect our foster families' privacy, we must have an APPROVED adoption application on file before we release their contact information.

All of our dogs are fixed (spayed/neutered) and up to date on shots. We have a 2 week foster-to-adopt period to make sure the dog is a fit for your family. Adoption fees vary from dog-to-dog.

Please note that an approved application DOES NOT guarantee that the dog will be placed with you. The final decision rests with our fosters as they know the dogs the best, and please be aware that there may be other applicants interested in the same dog. We continue accepting applications on a dog until the dog is with the new adoptive family in their home.

About Our Rescue Group...
Second Chance Dog Rescue was formed to fulfill a desperate need in the community to --Rescue, Rehabilitate & Re-home-- homeless dogs from families who can no longer take care of their animals due to financial distress, and from over-crowded local shelters.

Our program is based on foster care, and all rescued dogs spend their first days at a loving foster home where they receive personalized care. As part of our program, we ensure that all dogs have their shots, are spayed or neutered, and have been re-socialized by their foster family. In addition, Second Chance Dog Rescue provides support for potential new owners and monitors progress for both new pet parents and their adopted dogs. This helps guarantee that our dogs go to good, loving homes.

Come Meet Our Pets...
Our foster parents schedule one on one meetings with potential owners and provide a personalized adoption experience.
Our Adoption Process...
We require a foster questionnaire to be completed before a scheduled meeting. Then, if interested in our dog, a foster to adopt contract is completed with a two week trial period. An adoption fee is required. After the two week foster period, we conduct a home visit and complete the adoption contract.
We Serve the Following Cities, Towns, and/or Counties...
