Delilah's Story...
I'm a big girl, about 90 lbs of pure love! The Great Dane part of me makes me really tall - 26" at the withers (they tell me that's at my shoulders). I'm about 3 1/2 years old and I LOVE going for hikes and runs. I play fetch better than just about any dog I've ever met! And I bet you that I'll beat you at tug-of-war!! Mom says I "need an active owner." If that means we get to hang out, wrestle and play a lot, then I agree with her!!! ACTIVE!! WOOF!

I love ALL people. But I've heard my Foster Mom say I'm "too big and excited to be with small dogs and cats." I'm not sure what that means, but I sure think little critters are cute! I'm good with kids too, but if they are "too little" I tend to knock them over. I think it's really funny, but they don't seem to like it very much. I do love other dogs, but sometimes get scared if I don't understand what they are saying to me. So my Foster Mom says I should be an only dog, or can probably live with a dog my own size.

I am also really curious about stuff and like to look over fences. I'm really good at getting over those fences if something looks interesting, so I stay inside and cuddle on the couch when "Mom" is gone. OK...Mom says she needs to say something now...

(Delilah is a giant sweetheart!! She has been spayed, is current on her vaccinations and receives regular flea treatment. If you are interested in adopting or fostering her, please contact us at 818-714-1147 or email us at info@ruffpatches.org.)

About Our Rescue Group...
Ruff Patches empowers Los Angeles area pet owners to keep their pets and help stem the flow of animals entering the City and County shelter systems and nonprofit rescue organizations.

Many issues could be remedied if pet owners had access to relevant information before obtaining their pet, access to additional education about pet care and to resources such as low cost spay/neuter, behaviorists, etc. Ruff Patches will connect pet owners considering relinquishment of their pet to the resources they need to address their individual situation, with the goal of keeping the pet in its original home or, if necessary, finding a new appropriate placement.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Delilah, a Lancaster Great Dane/Pit Bull Terrier dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Great Dane/Pit Bull Terrier for sale in Lancaster, or seeking a Great Dane/Pit Bull Terrier dog from a breeder in Lancaster.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lancaster already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lancaster breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Great Dane/Pit Bull Terrier breeders who help with Great Dane/Pit Bull Terrier rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lancaster paves the way for another one to be saved.
