Bran Stark's Story...
Like the Stark boys in Game of Thrones, our little Lords Bran and Rickon found themselves on their own dangerous adventure but they were covered in ticks and in danger of being put to sleep in an over crowded shelter in Kentucky. Thankfully we got them saved in time, and brough to a vet where we got them on medication right away. Their journey continued with a weekend trip to Illinois where they are save on a farm near Mineral, IL. These pups have so much potential and are doing fantastic in foster care. Both will need to be on antibiotics for several months due to the tick bites and they will need follow up testing to make sure they completely recover from any tick borne diseases. We think they are about 6-7 months old now.

Here are some of his new photos on IBR Facebook and IBR Youtube .

Others Ways You Can Make a Difference

Shop for custom calendars, mugs and T-shirts at our Café Press fundraising website and choose merchandise featuring Pointers, Setters, Hunting Dogs or Friendly Mutts. All of our calendar stars are rescued dogs that would have been euthanized in shelters across the Mid-West had IBR not stepped in to save them. Your support does make a difference!!

Help offset the high cost of our vetting bills via the Sponsor-A-Pet link. Illinois Birddog Rescue has always prided itself in not turning away any sick and injured dogs; animals that most shelters would have euthanized. We have saved many dogs with heartworm, tick borne illnesses, broken legs, missing legs, blind dogs, a new deaf puppy, dogs suffering from Parvo and especially senior dogs that may need expensive health care to help them get ready for adoption. In February of 2006, in one weekend, we brought in 20+ dogs from the Boat Mountain Tragedy, and that depleted our emergency funds.

Your donation will not go unnoticed. In addition to helping save lives, when you donate your name will be added to the Illinois Birddog Rescue Donations and Rescue Sponsor List.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Bran Stark, a Wood Dale Pointer/Pointer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Pointer/Pointer for sale in Wood Dale, or seeking a Pointer/Pointer dog from a breeder in Wood Dale.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Wood Dale already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Wood Dale breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Pointer/Pointer breeders who help with Pointer/Pointer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Wood Dale paves the way for another one to be saved.
