My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Come and meet Lucy and our other adoptable dachshunds this Saturday, July 14th at the Los Altos Art & Wine Festival. Our adoption booth will be outside of Pets Delight, 390 State Street from 11 to 3.

Lucy was surrendered to a small rural shelter. Her owner gave no reason for giving her up but if we were to guess, we’d bet they instead kept one of Lucy’s recent puppies. The shelter had 43 dogs and kennels for only 39 dogs, so after a week or so with no adoption interest, we were called and asked to take her. We happily agreed.

Lucy is an incredibly nice dog. She is a purebred dachshund but she has the personality of a golden retriever. Lucy nicely greets everyone, even strangers. She seems to be ok with younger children. She enjoys playing fetch. She has no interest in barking at people who come to the door or guarding her turf. (Maybe she is in the canine equivalent of the witness protection program and she is undercover as a doxie?).

Lucy has learned to sleep in the crate at night. She is happy to cuddle with you or to be carried around like a baby (or pretty much anything else you want to do with her – that Golden personality, remember?) She likes the boy dogs in her foster home but she wants to be the only female in her new home.

Lucy is now crate trained (but she oh so much wants to sleep in the big bed). She is spayed and current on her vaccinations.

If you are interested in Lucy, please fill out an adoption application at www.scdr.org and email Lindy at linla@comcast.net.

The tax deductible donation for Lucy is $275.
