Fred's Info...

I am in need of an experienced adopter.

Fred's Story...
Fred is the sweetest little Goffin. We only know his name. His owner is deceased, and the family could not provide any additional information other than they thought he had only recently begun to pluck. He feathers have come back very nicely since his picture was taken. (Far better than in his pictures.)

Fred's cage is open all day. When we first got him, he was very timid about leaving the top of his cage. He has since really blossomed and expanded his horizons. He now hops up on his foster dad's shoulder every morning to help clean the other bird cages. He also comes upstairs to visit the rest of the flock and get some more loving.

Fred loves kisses, head rubs, and cuddling. For a Cockatoo, he is very quiet. He seldom squawks and even then it is very soft. Fred would make a great companion.

Fred's approximate hatch date is unknown, and his adoption fee is $350.

For information on some of the characteristics of this bird, see this Species Profile page: http://www.staravian.org/species_profiles.html#Cockatoo

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fred, a St. Louis Cockatoo was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Cockatoo for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Cockatoo from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Cockatoo breeders who help with Cockatoo rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
