Hope's Story...
Hi- I’m Hope! And I am sure a lucky girl! I was in a high kill KY shelter- they kept me in what seemed like a dirty bird cage and I was scheduled to be killed (they kill there once every week, they call it “clean out”). A day after being turned into the shelter through no fault of my own, I gave birth to my 4 beautiful baby kittens. Sadly, the dirty crate we were kept in, they did not give me and my babies any blankets to keep warm to to keep from falling through the metal wire cracks in the tiny crate- and my babies fell through and all died one day later. I was devastated.

The good people at A4A came and saved my life, literally just in time. I will always be forever grateful. A4A supporters and friends all asked that I be named Hope- because of my story. In my temporary volunteer foster home I live with a dog and another cat and do well with both. I am approx. 2-3 years old and have been spayed, vaccinated, etc. I am very sweet and like to be petted and prefer a home with at least one other cat. I do prefer a calm home--- I get scared with small children chase me. My dream home is one that is calm and relaxed and a home that will give me time to warm up and get adjusted. Once I transition, I am very sweet!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Hope, a Xenia Domestic Shorthair cat was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Domestic Shorthair for sale in Xenia, or seeking a Domestic Shorthair cat from a breeder in Xenia.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Xenia already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Xenia breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Domestic Shorthair breeders who help with Domestic Shorthair rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Xenia paves the way for another one to be saved.
