Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Shoji is a 7 year old pure bred Red neutered male Shiba Inu with very severe allergies. Not more than a year ago his coat was plush and gorgeous and now, he looks like this. He is constantly scratching, licking and biting himself. His owners have tried grain free diets, special medicated baths, even allergy shots but they are at the end of their finances and don't know what else to do for Shoji.
At this point Shoji has had an allergy test done which showed he has several food allergies and environmental allergies in addition to being allergic to cats. He is also prone to yeast and ear infections which he gets on occassion as a reaction to his allergies as well so he may have to be on anti-fungal medication from time to time. His ongoing treatments will include allergy shots every 2-4 weeks and special food which all together will run his new owner around $120-$200 a month. Shoji CAN be adopted into a house with cats, he is currently fostered with cats. The allergy shots that he already gets helps with the cats so we don't want that to be the determining factor for the right home.
Shoji's first picture was taken in his previous home when his allergies were not being treated. His second picture is of him today on treatments.
Shoji is FANTASTIC with children! He is currently fostered with our director and plays fetch with her 2 year old daughter, lets her climb all over him and even walk him on a leash. He follows her everywhere and even layed outside her door one night when there was a thunderstorm. He is also good with calm dogs but may correct an annoying outgoing dog or puppy that gets in his face. He is also good with cats and loves every stranger he meets.
Shoji is great in his crate, good with short fencing and loves walks so any home environment would work for him.
Shoji's adoption fee is $75.00 due to his conditions. He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, dewormed and knows some basic commands. Since he is over 7 he does not come with a training course though we feel he would really enjoy attending one with his new family. Are you it?
