My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Midge is a wonderful little dog. She is a young girl just over a year old but still has some of that puppy spunk in her. She would be great in a home with adults only or older children that would enjoy cuddling and playing with her. She weighs just 14 lbs.

Here is what her foster mom had to say about Midge:

Midge will steal your heart right away! She is a very affectionate companion who loves to cuddle. She enjoys a good belly rub and likes being with her person. She is not an attention hound however is also happy to just lie quietly beside you. She loves going for walks around the neighbourhood and meeting new friends. In the home she is a very calm and quiet dog.

Midge would be happiest in a quiet, laid back home where she was included as part of the family. She adores her people and would do best with a single person, a couple or a family with older children. She is very timid of young children and will actually run away and hide from them. She doesn’t handle a lot of chaos well and prefers a quiet home where she gets lots of love and cuddles. She does have a cheeky playful side and will try to get you to chase her around and play with her. She is such a sweet girl. Everyone who meets her loves her. She is a bit timid at first when she meets new people but she warms up very quickly. She is gentle, funny, energetic and calm. She’s got the whole package!

Midge has never shown any aggression to anyone. She is the sweetest girl ever! She absolutely loves other dogs!! Whenever we see another dog out for a walk, she just wants to race over there to say hello! Because she is small she’s a bit shy of bigger dogs, but still wants to say hello. I wouldn’t recommend her going to a home with cats though.

We crate Midge at night and she goes into the crate just fine and doesn’t make a sound through the entire night. She also likes to go into her crate to take a nap during the day or just to play with the door open.

Midge is a little skittish, and jumps at a lot of noises, but if you keep socializing her with that kind of stuff, she will be fine in no time! Midge LOVES to walk! For a little dog, she can walk a lot! She’s also a great running partner! She keeps up fine, and runs right beside you. If you don’t walk Midge right away in the morning she does not get hyper or anything, she will just lay down and wait until you are ready.

Midge has a moderate level of energy. When she’s in the house you barely notice her! She just lies down in a corner and sleeps, but is always checking out where you’re going, and likes to follow you around to make sure everything is good. But don’t let her calm house energy fool you! She’s always up for a long walk.

Midge has a beautiful coat!! It’s very soft, with gorgeous patterns. She is a low shedder. Overall Midge seems to be a very healthy girl, with a beautiful coat! She likes to snack on her food, we leave it out for her the whole day, and by the end of the day she only eats one cup of food.

Midge does not know any formal commands but is already a very polite girl! I think she would do great in obedience training, as she is very smart. She is fully house trained. She is fine going in the car and will just sit on your lap and not make a peep the entire time.

Midge walks very well on leash! She barely pulls, and is very enjoyable to walk with. She always has a little spring to her step and a wagging tail. Midge has great house manners!! She has NEVER begged for food, or counter surfed. She’s very polite! Midge is not a barker at all! The only time she barks is when someones at the door.

Midge is a WONDERFUL little dog! She never barks at people, and is always ready to cuddle with you on the couch, or go for a long hike. She’s the perfect dog because she is so calm in the house, but always ready to go out. She is nice with everyone, and very gentle. It will take her a few weeks to really get comfortable. Don’t be worried when she runs away at first, because once she gets to know you, she will follow you around the house, sit next to you, and walk at your side. I wouldn’t recommend her going to a home with kids, because she really isn’t comfortable with them, and would spend her whole day running away from them. She would love if someone was in the home more often than not to keep her company.

If you think this little girl would be a welcome addition to your home, please submit an application to http://www.uglymutts.com found under "The Dogs" for consideration.
