My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Pharaoh
5-6 year old Black Smoke Egyptian Mau
Regular adoption fee: see below

Pharaoh is a magnificent cat, dramatically marked and highly athletic. Like most Maus, he is an impressive runner, and his 14.5 pounds of solid muscle make him strong enough to leap from the bed to the top of an armoire! He will want to look down upon you from high places by day, and to sleep on your bed at night. He wags his tail, chortles, and enjoys playing fetch, as befits his breed.
We do not know why Pharaoh was abandoned by his previous owners. He seems like such a prize. Sometimes a person acquires a cat like Pharaoh for its glamorous appearance and then is surprised when the cat doesn’t spend the whole day lounging on a cushion, but that discovery wouldn’t take six years. Perhaps a foreclosure was involved.
Like most Maus, Pharaoh is very affectionate with his family—if you like head butts, you are in for a treat—but reticent with strangers. This means he is likely to act shy when you first meet him, especially if you are a man. This also means he is one of those cats who will want to retreat to the back of the house or the top of a shelf when you have a dinner party.
Pharaoh tolerates other cats, in the sense that he will not chase or attack them. He is currently living with a number of Persians and does not seek them out. However, he does not want other cats to approach him; if they do, he will literally scream and swat until they go away. We are sure he would be happier as an only cat.
Pharaoh is litterbox perfect and tests negative for FIV and FeLV. He is fostered in Lodi.
