Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi my name is George; I am a basset hound and am seven years old. I am red and white, my family adopted me from rescue in 2007 when I was 2 years old. I do not know about my life prior to being adopted but have been very care for since. I am crate, leash and house trained. I am a very gentle and sweet guy. I love to go on walks and explore my yard but really love to snooze on the couch. My owners had to find me a new home after getting a new job involving traveling and were unable to provide proper care and exercise. This was a very difficult decision that made them very sad. But they know Happy Tails will find me the perfect family to spend the rest of my life with. I have had excellent veterinarian since my adoption so I can assure my new family that I am very healthy and will need no extra care beyond yearly check-ups. While I am pure bred I am not registered.
Instantly recognizable due to its big, heavy body, short legs and long ears, the Basset Hound has proven itself to be a multi-purpose dog that excels in conformation, obedience, tracking, field trialing and pack hunting. The breed is known for its strong hunting instinct and, if given the opportunity, will chase or follow a scent willingly. Because of its gentle, non-confrontational nature, the Basset can be used for hunting in packs or alone. The Basset can be any hound color, which includes combinations of black, tan, white, red and other colors.
The Basset’s sweet, gentle disposition makes for a great companion and the short coat requires minimal grooming. New owners should be prepared for a dog that actively follows scent while outside or on walks.
PLEASE PICK ME TO BE YOUR NEW BEST FRIEND.
