My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

fostered in Richmond VA - willing to travel for the right home.

Frances is a nice looking girl as she has grown and filled out she just keeps getting better and better. She matches the standard for both the UKC American Pit Bull Terrier and the AKC American Staffordshire Terrier.  Her personality though leans a bit more towards the AST side. She’s beautiful and she knows it. That said, she is responsive to correction and training. She’s very confident and outgoing, eager to meet new people in just about any setting.  Doesn’t appear to have any phobias or weirdness around any object or place and travels nicely.  She’s going to be the dominant female dog in a household so we would like to place her as an only pet or with an opposite sexed dog only as is our general policy.  She’s about 9 months old, so she’s going to fill out a little bit more in body and head but she’s pretty nice looking now.  She could be either breed and could easily get her limited privilege registration in either registry so she could compete in events (other than confirmation since she is spayed and has no papers).

She’s a nice middle of the road dog, she’s got puppy energy and motivation to play, snuggle and have fun but not overly so. We believe that she will settle down and be a moderately active adult dog. She appears to tire out fairly quickly with regular exercise. She is living with three other dogs and two cats and is doing very well.  Every evening she empties the toy basket of bones, antlers and nylabones and takes them under her foster mom’s lazy boy. She will happily stay there under the foot chewing, only to come out and get more toys.   She also settles down nicely in her crate for naps and night time.  No separation anxiety, she crates well.

She is fascinated with crickets, june bugs, loves to chase squirrels. She loves to chew on sticks and bones. She eats grass like she’s part cow.  Her drive for playing tug is improving and she actively seeks out a game but she does not initiate tug.  She is not interested in playing fetch as balls hold no interest, unless it’s her jolly ball with a rope through it. She loves the way it swings around.  She would do well in agility or obedience and has an aptitude for tricks.  Super, super food motivated so she’s easily trained with food so she would make a very nice obedience prospect.  She’s got nice eye contact and response time.  She’s independent and can entertain herself when home alone so she should be crated until she matures.

She’s physically sound with a nice athletic sport body. She’s got a pretty little shape, clean legs, and a nice straight front. Her back legs are long and with good angles. Her back is strong and straight.  No luxating patellas or slipping hocks, hip or elbow issues (based on physical exam only). She could make an nice little performance dog should her drive improve.  Her ears are a nice rose or half prick depending on her excitement.  Pretty head. No over or under bite. She’s Ok with getting her nails trimmed, we use the dremel to keep them short.

She’s Ok with cats but will only remain good with cats if she continues to live with them. She’s good with most other dogs. She’s testing her boundaries as a “tween”, not a pup yet not an adult.  She may bully shy or submissive dogs.  She would do well in a home with a larger male dog that can match her desire to play.  We always recommend obedience classes and can provide local recommendations if she is adopted in Richmond.

She’s a smaller dog 40lbs right now and we expect her to put on a pound or two as she fills out and develops some muscle tone.  She's got a beautiful shiny brindle coat that is very short, hard and slick. It’s barely eyelash length. Very nice dog, very enthusiastic and overall happy dog. She’s going to be a gorgeous adult dog.  She’s a smart girl and picks up on things quickly.

She’s spayed, up to date on shots, on heartworm negative and on prevention, microchipped with Home Again, house broken and crate trained. View her page on the Annabelle's Website here: (http://ascpbr.org/Frances.html)

Please keep in mind that we are a foster based rescue only. There is no facility where these dogs can be visited prior to application approval as they are all in private homes. This is for both the safety of our foster homes and our dogs. Please take a minute to fill out the adoption application if you are interested in one of our dogs. We also do not place our pit bulls in homes with dogs of the same gender. We adopt as single dogs or to homes with dogs of the opposite gender only. We appreciate breed experience.
