Meow! My name is Polly Ann
Polly Ann's Info...
|Breed:||Domestic Longhair||Color:||Black & White Or Tuxedo||Age:||Senior|
I am already spayed, housetrained, up to date with shots, not good with kids, not good with dogs, and good with cats.
I can be a little temperamental at times. I am sweet if you give me a chance to know you and I love treats they will help you win me over. I don't like loud noises or sudden moves they will send me into hiding. I have lots of nails to trim just come to the shelter and let me show you.
Help this Shelter by making a donation.
The Hermitage Cat Shelter, Tucson's only no-kill no-cage cat sanctuary and adoption center, is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization, supported entirely by donations. We are dedicated to the shelter, protection and care of homeless cats, especially those that are often not considered adoptable by other organizations.
We currently provide care for about 190 cats and kittens in clean, yet homey conditions. About 50 of our cats are permanent residents due to medical or behavioral issues, while the others are waiting for their forever homes!
Our facility comprises approximately 4,000 square feet under roof, with an additional 4,000 square feet of entirely fenced-in outdoor areas. Our free-roaming felines have access to fresh air and sunlight without being in any danger from predators, vehicles, nasty people or other vagaries of civilization.
Areas in our shelter are devoted to various categories of residents:
* Eminently adoptable cats
* Shy cats
* Medically-challenged cats
* FIV+ cats
* FeLV+ cats
If you visit the shelter, you will get to meet our friendly feline and human residents. You will also get to see some of the innovations we have come up with to house this many cats in a healthy environment (Rube Goldberg, eat your heart out!). Yes, with a little imagination and a few willing and skilled workers, you can convert a storage closet to an isolation room!
We are open 10 am - 4 pm Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, Sat & Sun. We are closed on New Year's Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our shelter is near Craycroft and 22nd, in a residential area.
Our website shows other events where you can see us, and often our kitties as well!
Please come by and meet all our feline darlings!
How does the adoption program work?
Come to the shelter between 10 am and 4 pm any day but Wednesday. (except New Year's, Easter, 4th of July, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day).
You will fill out a comprehensive adoption application, this is more detailed than we have done in the past but we want to assure that our cats will be placed in the best home. You may download and print the application to fill out before coming to the shelter. We will ask about current and past pets, your current living situation and veterinary information. We also ask for references of people who know how you are with animals who will be willing to vouch for you.
You will be given a guided tour, during which you are introduced to the cats, and find one or 2 you bond with.
If you rent or lease, please bring a copy of your lease that shows you are allowed to have animals and proof of payment of required pet deposits/rent, or a note from your landlord and be ready to have us call the landlord for approval.
A background check will be run, persons with a history of violence will be denied for adoption.
Upon approval, the cat(s) will be put on a 24 hour hold, you will be given a packet of information to review, this will also allow you time to set up a "safe room" for the new cat to help him/her to adjust to the new home.
After the 24 hour hold is complete and you have reviewed and signed off on the materials provided, you may come in and pick up your new cat(s). At that time the adoption fee will be due.
You may also meet some of our adoptable cats at PETCO! Current locations are Wrightsown & Pantano; Broadway & Craycroft; and near The Tucson Mall . The staff at Petco will do the adoption paperwork and send it to the shelter, if during shelter hours we will review it immediately, following the steps above. If it is after hours we will review the next day and if approved the 24hr hold will start then.
