I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, not good with kids, good with dogs, and not good with cats.
Sweet Joey is an affectionate 3-year old copper-ish/red 25 lb. cocker spaniel. His photos do not reflect all the loving sweetness Joey has to offer. He is house trained and will use a dog door. He loves to go for walks and very good on a leash. He is also good and enjoys riding in the car. He rarely barks and gets along well with calm dogs, but reportedly chases cats. He will retrieve a ball and likes stuffed animals. When he gets bored, he will eat the squeakers out. Joey gets so excited when you return home, that he will jump on you until he is acknowledged. A small city could be powered with the energy generated by his happy tail-stub.
Joey is shy until he gets to know you and then is a friendly and loving companion.
Strangers need to wait until Joey approaches them, or he will run away. After someone is deemed acceptable he is friendly and sweet. In Joey’s world, children are loud and fast moving and frankly, they scare him. Many noises scare him – vacuums, hair dryers, pots and pans, and even loud sneezes. He will run to the other room and peek around the corner until the coast is clear. He also gets anxious when normal routines change.
Joey is a dainty, non-aggressive, non-obsessive eater. If other dogs eat quickly, Joey may need his own space to eat. The only aggressive bone in Joey’s body is reserved for rawhides. He will growl and snap if you take one away.
Joey is a loving, affectionate companion for a caring, patient family with a calm household and consistent routines. His previous owner had to give Joey and his canine and feline siblings up for adoption during recent financial difficulties. If you’d like an extra dose of canine loving, contact ACSR to meet Joey. Joey-2's adoption fee is $300. You can see more photos of Joey2 on our website: www.acsrwa.org -- Photos courtesy of Gail Storrs -- www.viewpointsphoto.com

Our Vision: Eliminate the suffering, misplacement and euthanasia of adoptable Cocker Spaniels.
Our Mission : American Cocker Spaniel Rescue's primary mission is to provide a safe haven to Cocker Spaniels who are at risk of euthanasia by providing short and long-term foster care, health care, breed education, sterilization, rehabilitation, and ultimately a suitable forever loving home.
Visits are by appointment. Please call or email to schedule an appointment to meet our adoptable cocker spaniels today!
Anyone wanting to adopt one of our cocker spaniels, must fill out an application (available on our website at www.acsrwa.org) Applications are reviewed by our staff; applicants that qualify are then asked for what we call a "home visit". One of our volunteers meets with each applicant and their household members at their home for a short interview. Each applicant gets an opportunity to meet with the dog to see if they like each other. Information about each applicant is then reviewed and an applicant is chosen to adopt a dog. A couple of weeks after a dog is adopted, a volunteer with check with the adopter to see how everything is going and if there are any problems, concerns, questions, etc. We are always available to help however we can, after the adoption is made.
