My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Annie is a very friendly, well behaved, quiet little girl who needs someone to take her under their wing and show her that the world is not such a scary place. She is coming along very nicely in her foster home but needs to be bonding with her forever family. She is a little dear and once she becomes a little more confident she will be an exceptional family pet. She is approximately 1 – 2 years old, fully house and crate trained and weighs just 17 lbs.

Here is what Annie’s foster family had to say:

Annie is a very timid gentle puppy with these big sad brown eyes. At this time she is more comfortable with other dogs than people. Annie loves to play with other small dogs and will give up a toy rather than show any aggresiveness. She is very cautious and submissive around people and is startled easily by unfamiliar noises. This little puppy appears sad when you look into her big brown eyes but she is just hoping you are the one she can trust to love her and make her more confident about her surroundings. Once she gains your trust she is a very loyal affectionate puppy. Her submissive character makes you want to love and protect her forever.

Annie is friendly with everyone including children however she will approach with caution until she knows you are friendly with her. She shows shyness at first with people by running away when they approach to pick her up. She is very timid at first with you but shows no preference to gender. She will become attached to whomever she builds a trusting relationship with. She is a very timid little girl who will approach another dog to check out the other dog for friendliness and then become fast friends and playmates. Annie is extremely friendly with other dogs at the dog park. She approaches with caution but is very playful with any her size. Annie has become attached to one other dog in the household and they play with toys and chase each other around the yard for hours.

Annie does not show any signs of anxiety when you leave the room. She will remain laying on the couch or continue playing outside. When we leave the house Annie is put into her crate for her own protection. She goes willingly and settles into the crate with her toys for hours without a sound from her. Her only indication that she does not want to be alone in the crate is the fact that her tail is between her legs and she gives a submissive little grunt. In her new home she would not need to be crated.

Annie is startled at any little sound inside or outside the house that is unfamiliar to her. She jumps and runs between your legs for protection. Outside she will (from a distance) start to bark at the source of the sound to make it look as if she is tough but she will not go near the sound.

Annie loves to play with stuffed toys but will chew them until the stuffing comes out so you need to watch her so she doesn’t swallow any toy parts. She loves going for walks and playing with the other household dog. They will run and tussle with each other until they are pooped out. Annie seems to seek companionship and protection from the other dogs and will follow them around. She likes to be outside in the hot weather however when inside she will sneak into the bedroom and stretch out against the pillow. I am sure she will eventually love to be able to sleep on the bed with her people. Annie is a low energy dog but when she is outside with another dog she is very energetic and will play for hours. Inside the house she is very quiet and reserved. She is inquisitive at first and once she gets to know her surroundings she will settle down on the couch or play with one of her toys contentedly.

Annie’s lack of confidence would indicate she would benefit from a patient, loving family with other family pets and children that she could learn to build her confidence up around people of all ages. Annie’s gentle inquisitive nature makes her suitable for just about any family who is not too loud and energetic around her at first but gives her the time and space to build her confidence up in her new surroundings.

If you would like to give this little girl a loving home, please submit an application to http://www.uglymutts.com found under "The Dogs" for consideration.
