We're Blitz and Bruno, best friends forever! We were adopted from a sanctuary, but we got booted out of the house and into a boarding kennel when we started to shed. We lived in separate kennels and could only see and touch each other for a few minutes a day -- for a long long time.

Then a kind kennel worker (we like him!) persuaded the kennel people to let us share a cage. Not much room but we kept smiling and stayed healthy because we had each other. If you've ever loved someone, you understand.

Now we're at this sanctuary in the biggest yard we've ever seen! Actually, after two and a half years in a 4' x 4' cage indoors, it was a little scary at first. We're relaxing now, tho. We help the other dogs howl the sun up, and explore with our toes in the dirt. We can feel and smell the wind and rain, instead of just hearing them outside our kennel walls.

The only thing better will be when we go together to live with our very own people who love us and talk to us and take us for walks. We are sweet, gentle, and kind -- with each other and with other dogs and people.

We are neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. We've been promised we'll never be separated again! Our adoption fee (for both of us together) is $195.00.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Blitz (paired with Bruno), a Santa Fe Dachshund dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Dachshund for sale in Santa Fe, or seeking a Dachshund dog from a breeder in Santa Fe.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Santa Fe already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Santa Fe breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Dachshund breeders who help with Dachshund rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Santa Fe paves the way for another one to be saved.
