I am already spayed, housetrained, in need of an experienced adopter, up to date with shots, not good with kids, not good with dogs, and not good with cats.
Trixie was on death row at a kill pound and Island Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary agreed to take her in thru the help of Fido’s Companion Rescue.
When I went to pick up Trixie they had put her collar on incorrectly and when I loaded her into our van she bolted out – running out of sight. Panicked I ran back inside to find help. The Caretaker found Trixie back in her original Kennel. What? Did she want to stay there? or what? Well this was just how Trixie was, looking for a “safe place”. She remains that way today and she has been here for more than a year. She is loving and gives kisses – knows how to sit, can catch a treat. But her “safe place” is her kennel and she will try to bolt to it when coming indoors after her walks and playing. She is frightened of many things and as I watch how she reacts to some people with fear – probably has been abused at some time in her precious life.
Trixie needs a “Furever” home with no other animals or small children. Just a place she can call her own and have an owner or two that adores her. This is the only way she will know what a “home” is and that a “home” CAN be her “safe place”. Trixie is a very unique looking lab mix with a distinct turned up nose almost like a Dingo. She is 4 years old and has been here since June 28, 2012 ! She weighs 54 Lbs.
We love her very much – but we all want her to find her REAL HOME SAFE PLACE.
Could YOU be that “Safe Place home” that Trixie so needs and deserves?
