Emmy's Story...
Emmy is a darling female rat terrier/shih tzu mix puppy born 04/27/12. Emmy and her siblings (found homes long ago) came into our rescue program when sadly, their mother was hit by a car. Emmy had to be bottle fed. Emmy is great with other dogs, cats, and children. Emmy is up to date on ashots, micro-chipped, and spayed. Emmy doesn't understand why all her siblings got adopted as puppies and she is still looking for a home 2 years later. Can you give this girl what she wishes for, a home of her own?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Emmy, a Baton Rouge Rat Terrier/Shih Tzu dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Rat Terrier/Shih Tzu for sale in Baton Rouge, or seeking a Rat Terrier/Shih Tzu dog from a breeder in Baton Rouge.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Baton Rouge already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Baton Rouge breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Rat Terrier/Shih Tzu breeders who help with Rat Terrier/Shih Tzu rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Baton Rouge paves the way for another one to be saved.
