Please note: Our dogs are NOT located in Lenoir, NC. They are in foster homes throughout NC, SC, and VA. You must be willing to drive to the dogs foster home in order to adopt it. The location of each dog is listed at the bottom of its bio.

Our Available Dogs are updated daily. If you see a dog on our site, it is available for adoption on that day. Emails asking if a dog is available for adoption will not be answered.

Just as the Available Dogs are updated daily, so are the bios. The bios are very descriptive and tell everything we know about a dog. If something is not listed in a bio, we do not know it at the time you are reading it. Emails asking for more information will not be answered.

BEFORE you can meet any of our dogs, you must be approved to adopt. This means you must first download an application from our website and submit it via email or fax (910-401-1317). A vet check or a reference check is then completed and if that goes well a home visit is done. The entire process takes 3-7 days normally, depending on your location. If we do not have anyone in your area to do your home visit we will ask you to reach out to local vets offices, shelters, and rescues to get this done.

THIS DOG IS NO LONGER ON HOLD PENDING EVALUATION

CORKEY (SRC #1237) has just been rescued from a local Shelter and he is currently on medical hold until SRC has him fully examined and evaluated. Although the SRC volunteer went to the shelter to get a Schnauzer that was endangered, here was Corkey too that desperately needed to be saved! He is such a cute little Tri-colored Corgi/Pug Mix was has just experienced a great deal of trauma and neglect. The shelter volunteers bragged about what a precious boy he really was and were worried that no one had come to claim him. It must be so hard on them to see so many worthy animals be passed over day after day. Corkey had minimal medical needs and those eyes just said, Please do not leave me behind. so naturally it became very obvious that this muscular boy with the fantastic personality was looking more like a Schnauzer more and more with ever minute that passed so naturally SRC simply could not leave him behind! Even with all these great recommendations, SRC does not know quite enough about this honorary Schnauzer just yet to let him be released for adoption until he is completely evaluated and healed from all his medical procedures still we do know for certain that he is well worth saving from certain death. If you are interested in this cute little boy, just keep watch on this site and information will be posted as soon as it is available. Thank you so much for your continued patience as SRC maintains our worthy mission every day. SRC diligently strives to assure that each dog we place is fully vetted and evaluated prior to its placement in an adoptive home. This handsome 24 pound Tri-color Corgi/Pug has been taken to Animal House Vet Hospital in Rutherford College, NC to be fully examined and to get any medical needs address. Once he is fully vetted by Dr. E.J. Kennedy and his professional staff there then Corkey will be sent to a loving foster home for a minimum of two weeks for a full evaluation. SRC knew immediately that Corkey will be a fantastic family companion for just the right family! When he is ready for adoption Corkey (1237) will be Heartworm Negative (already tested) and fecal tested, He is now scheduled for being neutered, has been brought up to date on all vaccinations, and has already been micro-chipped, plus his foster parents will give input as to his demeanor in their home so that his adoptive parent will have a better idea of the personality of their newly adopted dog. Please keep in mind that once adopted EVERY dog still needs an adjustment period in their new home, no matter how well adjusted he or she becomes in their foster home.

He should be ready for adoption by or before June 30, 2012.

CORKEY (SRC #1237) is a young (1-2 years old) male Corgi/ Pug Mix who weighs 24 pounds. Corkey has a shiny short-haired coat, floppy ears, a tail that makes a lovely curve and wags like a fan constantly to let everyone know just how friendly his personality is. His distinctive coat is tri-colored with ebony black as the primary color containing flecks of golden honey brown and a dash of bright white to create a very unique marking which frames his face in an appealing look that just makes you want to smile. Even if Corkey were not such a handsome little boy, his personality would automatically win any dog lover over in just minutes! He would make a perfect meet and greet buddy to take to work or even has the perfect personality for a therapy dog. This one has no aggression and is all about the love! It is not too often that we are called by shelters telling us that there is a truly special boy there that we must consider because of his personality Corky is just such a boy! He is a strikingly handsome canine and apparently has obviously been well cared for. It was most unusual that he was found in such great condition as a stray. Animal Control was really surprised that no one came to get him during his time in stray hold however that is going to be very fortunate for some very bless adoptive family. Corkey has huge brown eyes that can deep inside you when he approaches you and you know that he is searching for a new friend. If allowed he will happily place one or both paws on your lap if you are sitting and ask to be petted. He has obviously been around people that have taught this loving canine that he will be giving affection when he requests it. This dog would make such a wonderful companion as a quiet little boy who would follow you wherever you go and he will enjoy whatever activity you want to do. Corkey will love anything that includes humans! Of course he loves other dogs too, and thus far he has shown little interest in cats one way or the other. He walks beautifully on a leash and rides exceptionally well in a vehicle. He is a relaxed little guy and seems to have a lot of potential as long as he has someone to love him. Perhaps you could make all the difference in the world to this dog, and no doubt he could make a world of difference to you! Please keep watch on this website as he becomes fully vetted and is evaluated by one of SRCs loving foster homes in order to prepare him for a permanent home. This is truly what every dog wants: someone to love and to be loved by them in return. Everything else is gravy while the real meat of their lives is the love that they are waiting for, and will receive. SRC will make certain they do. That is a large portion of our worthy mission! Why not help us assure that it happens for a rescue today?

Why Adoption is a Great Option

CORKEY, a Lenoir Corgi/Pug dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Corgi/Pug for sale in Lenoir, or seeking a Corgi/Pug dog from a breeder in Lenoir.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lenoir already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lenoir breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Corgi/Pug breeders who help with Corgi/Pug rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lenoir paves the way for another one to be saved.
