DINO's Story...
READ THE ENTIRE BIO TO LEARN ABOUT SRC'S ADOPTION PROCESS AND THE DOG YOU ARE INTERESTED IN.

Please note: Our dogs are NOT located in Lenoir, NC. They are in foster homes throughout NC, SC, and VA. You must be willing to drive to the dogs foster home in order to adopt it. The location of each dog is listed at the bottom of its bio.

Our Available Dogs are updated daily. If you see a dog on our site, it is available for adoption on that day. Emails asking if a dog is available for adoption will not be answered.

Just as the Available Dogs are updated daily, so are the bios. The bios are very descriptive and tell everything we know about a dog. If something is not listed in a bio, we do not know it at the time you are reading it. Emails asking for more information will not be answered.

BEFORE you can meet any of our dogs, you must be approved to adopt. This means you must first download an application from our website and submit it via email or fax (910-401-1317). A vet check or a reference check is then completed and if that goes well a home visit is done. The entire process takes 3-7 days normally, depending on your location. If we do not have anyone in your area to do your home visit we will ask you to reach out to local vets offices, shelters, and rescues to get this done.

Please do not apply to adopt a dog if you are not prepared to welcome it into your home within two weeks of applying. We do not hold dogs and we adopt them out on a first come first served basis based on a completed adoption process.

SRC does not adopt out its dogs to families with children under ten years of age. This is for the protection of the dogs and for the protection of the children.

Once you are approved to adopt you must make your donation online via our website and sign an adoption contract BEFORE you pick up your new dog. SRC does NOT do meet and greets on the same day as adoptions so if you want to meet the dog first, you must make two trips to the foster home. Keep in mind that if, while you are waiting to meet a dog, another approved applicant decides to commit to it, the dog is no longer available for adoption.

UPDATE 06/20/2012: What a HAPPY boy this is! The before and after photos tell it all. He has come from a scared and tentative pup to an exuberant, happy, friendly, and wonderful boy. Dino is loving life and is proving to be a remarkable dog.

Dino will make a wonderful addition to any family. He is great with other dogs, and he loves attention. He will cuddle with you on the couch, run with you around the backyard, and follow you anywhere you go. He is literally your shadow.

Dino is working on his house training and kept on a regular schedule he will do just fine. He needs to be let out every few hours.

Dino is working on his leash walking but he will have that mastered in no time. He is a smart boy who wants to please.

DINO IS NOW COMPLETELY VETTED AND IS IN HIS FOSTER HOME.IN ALEXANDRIA, VA. THIS LITTLE BOY IS VERY FRIENDLY AND REALLY COMING OUT OF HIS SHELL QUICKLY. A COUPLE OF GOOD BATHS AND SOME GENTLE HANDS ALONG WITH SOFT VOICES REALLY MADE A DIFFERENCE TO THIS LITTLE BOY! HE IS SETTLING IN VERY NICELY AND ALREADY IS REALLY ENJOYING THE SOFT BEDS AND GOOD FOOD, NOT TO MENTION THE LOVING TOUCHES THAT HE IS GETTING CONSTANTLY! DINO IS HEART-WORM NEGATIVE, FECAL NEGATIVE, UP TO DATE ON ALL HIS VACCINATIONS INCLUDING INTRA-NASAL BORDATELLA, NEUTERED, AND ALSO MICRO-CHIPPED. NOW HE JUST NEEDS A LOVING HOME TO CALL HIS VERY OWN!!

RESCUED DOGS CONFISCATED FROM HOARDER --NO LONGER ON HOLD PENDING EVALUATION

This rescued dog soon to be named(SRC #1209) has just been rescued from a local animal shelter and it is currently on medical hold until SRC has it fully examined and evaluated. This canine and approximately 100 others were confiscated in an animal cruelty situation so every one of them have suffered horrible abuses that many of us could never fathom happening! The person that hoarded them had very deranged ideas about how to care for animals and while some of the practices were abominable, there were others aimed at keeping them from starving to death or contracting heartworms. Each of these dogs was found to be heartworm negative although the atmosphere they survived in was fifthly beyond belief and infested with mosquitoes and other parasites. Many of these animals were almost feral and a number of them had to be euthanized due to their conditions still there were a larger number that had the possibility of a future so SRC stepped up to help the ones that were simply frightened and in need of love, comfort, and the rebuilding of their self esteem not to mention complete medical vetting! This is a monumental financial and physical task yet SRC can not walk away from these precious ones when we see their desperate need! SRC has taken these dogs to ANIMAL HOUSE VET HOSPITAL in Rutherford College, NC where Dr. E.J. Kennedy and his professional staff will be checking them out thoroughly to determine exactly what these little dogs need. Dr. Kennedy has an extensive background in emergency medicine and has a very special touch with animals anyway. We at SRC trust him completely and would recommend this vets office to anyone that wants quality care at reasonable cost. Right now each of these dogs are in the loving hands of Dr. Kennedys staff right now. Currently they are being bathed, dewormed, given the remainder of their vaccines, heart-worm testing is already done, spay/neutered and any other medical procedures needed will be addressed. These are such cute little ones who have been thru a great deal of trauma and they need some one to care what happens to them right now. Their medical needs are extensive and it is going to be very draining on our meager budget; however SRC simply could not leave them behind after everything they have already been thru already though we do not know enough about them yet to let them be released for adoption until they are completely evaluated and healed from all the necessary medical procedures.

If you are interested in any of these cute little boys or girls, just keep watch on this site and information will be posted as soon as it is available. Before long names and details for each number will be posted plus there will be after photos taken to show you the world of difference a good grooming bath, etc. can make! These little ones have so much possibility and they have already suffered so very much already so they really need YOU to make it all better, so please select one of these precious ones to love and to be loved by. Thank you for your patience. SRC diligently strives to assure that each dog we place is fully vetted and evaluated prior to its placement in an adoptive home. When these hoarded dogs are ready for adoption each one of them will be heartworm tested, spayed or neutered, up to date on all vaccinations, and micro-chipped, plus their foster parents will give input as to their demeanor in their home so that her or his adoptive parent will have a better idea of the personality of their dog. There are both males and females in this group of dogs and all are very sweet, just very frightened and very much in need of love and patience. Please keep in mind that once adopted EVERY dog still needs an adjustment period in their new home, no matter how well adjusted he or she becomes in their foster home.

DONATIONS may be made toward their medical needs thru our website at the donate now option or you may mail your donation to our home office: 2643 Tumbleweed Drive, Lenoir, NC 28645. Tax letters will be provided for any donation.

DINO IS BEING FOSTERED IN ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA SO WHEN HE IS ADOPTED YOU WILL NEED TO DRIVE TO THAT LOCATION TO PICK HIM UP. .

Why Adoption is a Great Option

DINO, a Lenoir Schnauzer (Miniature)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Schnauzer (Miniature)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) for sale in Lenoir, or seeking a Schnauzer (Miniature)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) dog from a breeder in Lenoir.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Lenoir already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Lenoir breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Schnauzer (Miniature)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) breeders who help with Schnauzer (Miniature)/Terrier (Unknown Type, Small) rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Lenoir paves the way for another one to be saved.
