Forest's Story...
Sometimes you may not be able to see the forest for the trees, but this is one Forest you do not want to pass up. Forrest is a good mannered boy with a gentle soul. This beautiful thick coat and curly tail make him one handsome man. He seems to be a very dignified gentleman who has an outgoing and friendly nature. He politely sidles up to new people and enjoys being pet, but does not demand it. His favorite things so far are hanging out with people, enjoying a good nap, and going for walks. He knows commands such as sit, shake, and down, overall very well behaved. This well rounded dog has done well with dogs, cats, and kids. We believe him to be around 2-3 years old, he was found wandering and ready to collapse due to heat exhaustion during the heat wave. He now needs a home where he can spend those hot days inside with a family he will be devoted to.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Forest, a South Haven Norwegian Elkhound dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Norwegian Elkhound for sale in South Haven, or seeking a Norwegian Elkhound dog from a breeder in South Haven.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in South Haven already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a South Haven breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Norwegian Elkhound breeders who help with Norwegian Elkhound rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in South Haven paves the way for another one to be saved.
