Meow! My name is Vernon
|Breed:||Domestic Shorthair||Color:||Black (All)||Age:||Adult|
I am already neutered, housetrained, a special needs pet, up to date with shots, and good with kids.
Vernon is the sweetest, most affectionate kitty you will ever meet. He LOVES everybody he meets and just wants to be with you all the time. He was born in late 2010 or early 2011 and was lost or abandoned until he met a lady that saw he was in trouble. She fed him, looked for his home and later contacted Whiskers for help. Poor Vernon had been through some hard times and his ear was pretty damaged. Whiskers got him neutered, vaccinated and treated for his ailments from being outside on his own. Vernon tested positive for FIV, but he's a healthy and happy kitty otherwise and will make an excellent pet in a household with no other cats, or another cat that is FIV+.
FIV stands for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus. It is a lentivirus, meaning that it progresses very slowly, gradually affecting a cats immune system. It is passed through blood transfusions and through serious, penetrating bite wounds. FIV cats usually live long and healthy lives as long as they are kept up-to-date on vaccinations and any illnesses that develop are treated aggressively.
Whiskers cats and kittens are ALL rescued from the surrounding CAPITAL DISTRICT. All of Whisker's cats and kittens are spayed or neutered, age appropriately vaccinated and tested for FELV/FIV prior to adoption. Click here for our Online Application

Rescue Group Info...
Our mission is to provide abandoned, abused, and stray animals with a place of comfort, safety, and health and ultimately find them loving, responsible, permanent homes. We specialize in helping animals that have no advocate, those that have been abandoned on the streets or who have been abused. Secondly, we seek to reduce the population of unwanted companion animals by arranging for their spay/neutering prior to their adoption or through our Spay/Neuter & Release program. Finally, we seek to provide information to the public on how to better provide for and enjoy their companion animals.
To help fulfill our mission, Whiskers operates a shelter and maintains foster homes for housing lost, homeless, abandoned, injured or sick animals. We conduct fund-raising activities, solicit public contributions, and sell donated items to raise money to pay for the veterinary bills to alter, vaccinate, and restore health to these companion animals.
Our adoption fee is currently $50. We ask everyone to fill out an application to enable us to make a good match between the cat or kitten and the adopter.
All of our cats and kittens are neutered or spayed prior to adoption, have age appropriate vaccines and have been tested for FeLV and FIV.
We have many wonderful adult cats and kittens looking for homes. Please consider stopping by and meeting some of them. We're sure one of them will pick you for their new home!
