Sami's Story...
Meet Sami! Sami was painfully given to AGK after her family's living situation changed. Sami was use to living inside but was forced to live outside. Her family felt this was unfair and knew Sami was not happy. Sami is an 8 year old pure bred golden retriever that is extremely sweet and so, so pretty! Sami does have significant hip issues where both her hips come out of joint. However, after losing weight and taking her supplements, Sami is back to her old ways and can chase a ball like a 2 year old! She also has glomerulonephritis, which is a renal protein loss due to inflammation or immune system. She is currently on meds to treat that, however, it is not curable. NOTE: Adopt A Golden Knoxville rescue doesn't have an actual shelter building in your area. These dogs are fostered in private homes in East Tennessee. Therefore, it is not possible to meet the dogs and pups prior to their adoption. They are brought up north on a USDA transporter.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Sami, a Glastonbury Golden Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Golden Retriever for sale in Glastonbury, or seeking a Golden Retriever dog from a breeder in Glastonbury.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Glastonbury already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Glastonbury breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Golden Retriever breeders who help with Golden Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Glastonbury paves the way for another one to be saved.
