Harper's Story...
New Leash On Life - Chicago is thrilled to be working in partnership with Trio Animal Foundation to find this sweet pup, Harper, a home. Harper is a boxer mix who was found by the Chicago Police Department on the side of a road huddled around a dead cat (likely hit by a car). Even in the summer heat, she wouldn't leave the cat's side, enduring horrible sunburn on her emaciated body, and burning flesh off her paws on the cement. The wonderful folks at Trio are underwriting all her medical costs while NLOL works to find her the perfect forever home.

At a tiny 34 lbs, Harper is a petite little gal who needs to put on some weight and fill out a bit. She has a clean bill of health and her paws are almost healed. Our vet estimates her to be about 8 months old. She LOVES other dogs, going for car rides, and getting some TLC from her human friends. She is currently living in an amazing foster home with wonderful foster parents and 2 doting male foster pups who are showing her the ropes. She enjoys snuggling and playing with them, and the shy puppy we first met is coming out of her shell and showing off her goofy personality more and more every day!

We will continue updating Harper's bio with more information and pictures as we learn more about him, but in the meantime please check out NLOL's facebook page for more pictures, or fill out an adoption application to make Harper a part of your family!

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Harper, a Chicago Boxer dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Boxer for sale in Chicago, or seeking a Boxer dog from a breeder in Chicago.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Chicago already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Chicago breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Boxer breeders who help with Boxer rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Chicago paves the way for another one to be saved.
