My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Barnaby Jr: 3 to 5 yr old declawed seal point male Ragdoll
Regular adoption fee: see below

Barnaby's Bath Update: Barnaby Jr. had a bath, Look at his adorable pictures. We had such fun with him. He said he likes the one of him in the sink with the sink hiding his girth the best. He really is a photogenic beautiful young boy. His sadness seems to be lifting and we are seeing is a comic side of him. He is a real character. Look at him lying like a kitten with his legs straight out back We didn' t expect that pose!!!!!. He is doing fine. He just needs a home with some stairs to work off a few ounces or another kitty to play chase with him.

This big boy came to me from the middle of nowhere in Southern California. What was he doing there where they called him a Himalayan or alternately a Siamese?. I thought "Oh I have to get him out of there because I can appreciate him for what he really is. One of those wonderful Ragdoll boys big enough to be part dog." He is about
20 pounds. He should probably be 18 pounds or 17. Yes, he could lose a few.

It is clear his life has not gone well. There is a sadness to him. He is coming round but needs a bit more time and love. He became quite ill with a cold in the shelter and was lucky they treated him. They put him on two antibiotics and took care of him. The family that purchased him had had him declawed. They probably didn't feed him good quality food or the right food, to keep him from a few extra pounds which are a lot on a cat. They left him at a shelter matted and dirty and as great risk. Not a good beginning in life for a sensitive ragdoll boy.

The shelter works to send a transport truck with some of their needy animals to rescues in other areas of California. Mostly they bring dozens of chihuahuas up here. They send out a Needs Rescue List which I receive. I try to help by taking a few when I can. I chose Barnaby right away. Of course.

His eyes are an icy blue color that doesn't really show well in these first photos. He is a seal point which means he has darker fur on his head, feet and tail. His fur shows he has been randomly shaved and cut so it is sort of in disarray with uneven lengths . We will bathe him soon and that will help. ( We didn't want to annoy him til he settled in well with us) He has a very full and striking lighter ruff around his neck. Look how dark his feet are. His face is very beautiful and he will become again the beauty he was meant to be. He is a work in progress.

Barnaby is affectionate and enjoys being petted. Right from day one after 8 or 9 hours of transport he was a good sport. He was shy and hung back in his bed but he was nice about it, letting us pick him up and fuss with him. I met the transport on 7 /4 so he is just barely through his intake quarantine with us. I have fostered many ragdolls and I know that compared to most other breeds, they are very sensitive and take a long time to adapt to change. I have kept some for months before they were ready to go home. I don't think Barnaby Jr will take that long because he is coming around nicely, so I thought I would post him here and let everyone meet him.

He eats wet and dry but mostly dry (low fat ) and is litterbox perfect.

He will be a wonderful companion for someone who wants a super loving and sensitive small dog-type cat .

His foster mom is Harriet in Santa Cruz,
