Kiona's Story...
Kiona is a small sized 1 year old female that looks to be a mix of Black Lab and who knows what else. She weighs about 45 pounds right now. Animal control officers in Austin picked her up being loose, and placed her into the dog pound. No one showed up to claim this gal, so we took her into our Humane Society shelter. Kiona has a pleasant and someone giddy temperament and enjoys exercise. Her new home should be willing and capable to take her for regular walks or other forms of exercise. Kiona resides in a 5' x 5' kennel pen so it makes it hard for us to know if she is housetrained or not, but she does her best to keep her pen clean and do her job outside when given the chance. Her prospective home should plan on doing some housetraining work just to be sure. The adoption fee for Kiona is $75. We utilize a short adoption application form to assess compatibility between dogs and their prospective homes. This form is a simple one-sided Microsoft Word document and it can be e-mailed to you upon request. If you would like to receive the form via e-mail, or if you have any other questions, please send us an e-mail message.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Kiona, a Austin Labrador Retriever dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Labrador Retriever for sale in Austin, or seeking a Labrador Retriever dog from a breeder in Austin.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Austin already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Austin breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Labrador Retriever breeders who help with Labrador Retriever rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Austin paves the way for another one to be saved.
