Rio's Story...
Hi, I’m Rio, and I’m a 20 year old Scarlet Macaw. I’m a very outgoing and loving bird. I have a great personality, a large vocabulary, and I love to sing. My favorite song is Row Row Row Your Boat”. I prefer men, but I am willing to tolerate a woman in the house, as long as my owner and primary caregiver is a man. I enjoy to play/wrestle on the floor, and I especially love cuddling up on the couch and getting scratched on my head and under my wings. I come with my large cage, and a huge play stand that I love to be on when my people are home. I will greet you with a “hello” when you get home, and tell you “buh by” when you leave. If you think that you have room in your life for a beautiful girl like me then call my friends at the Olive Branch Parrot Rescue Inc. or fill out an application!

Our adoption application and procedures are located on our website under the adoption & fee info tab. If you have any problems with the application, please email us at

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Rio, a Redlands Macaw was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Macaw for sale in Redlands, or seeking a Macaw from a breeder in Redlands.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Redlands already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Redlands breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Macaw breeders who help with Macaw rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Redlands paves the way for another one to be saved.
