My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

COURTESY LISTING. THIS DOG IS NOT AT ODR, INC. FOR INFORMATION PLEASE CONTACT: Meredith Haynes,503-704-2993

SIDNEY:
Sidney is a male, black and tan, short hair, neutered miniature dachshund. He is 10 but strangers always ask if he's a puppy.

Health: Sidney had a herniated disc in his neck a couple of years ago but we haven’t seen any issues since we started walking him with a harness only. The rest of his back has been fine and he has been a good weight his whole life. Right now he is about 10lbs. He needs some dental work: cleaning and a possible tooth extraction. He received a flea treatment 2 weeks ago. He is all up to dat on vaccines.

Behavior: He is very much a people dog but does like other dogs and has lived with and does well with kids (lived successfully with a six and 3-year-old), and cats. He may have trouble reading other dog’s signals and he has a bit of a play skills deficit, but he thinks well of most dogs he meets. He is reactive to other dogs on leash, but responds well to training. If he pulls on the leash I stop and wait for him to turn around and look at me. This has immensely improved his leash walking, but it needs to be done for the first few steps of every walk. Sidney also likes to bark but has improved with training. Like most dachshunds, he loves to cuddle and prefers to sleep around your legs under the covers. He is very intelligent and understands words very well (walk, treat, dinner, outside). When I pull weeds in the back yard he joins me and "helps" by digging. Sidney really enjoys riding in the car. We took him to a lake once and he jumped right in with his jacket on! Guess he likes to swim! He is a very sweet boy and we really want him to be happy.
