My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATE: Our handsome man Gary made it!!! After two months of preliminary training he qualified as a therapy dog! He is starting his formal certification training (he is getting his own vest) and he will start working in a nursing home with his human mom in the spring. Congratulations Gary and mom! We are very proud of you!

This handsome young boy with the happy smile, shiny coat and wagging tail is our Gary, Mr. Congeniality. Gary was the favorite dog of the shelter volunteer's young son, he is just happy, social and affectionate and enjoyed snuggling with his young friend. His tail is not out of focus in the photo, it is fuzzy because he wags it so hard :-) Gary wags his tail when he walks, when he drinks, when he eats and when he gets attention from his humans, of course. Gary traveled to us in a Jeep along with 3 other large dogs on the seats and all dogs got along beautifully, even at mealtime when they were served burgers, which is a special treat. Gary is good with kitties too. Gary is enthusiastic and eager to please. He just loves, loves, LOVES people and attention and mealtime, of course. Gary is up to date on shots and neutered. He is crate trained and we are working on his obedience. Gary is looking for his very own home and family to share many happy moments with.

It is our policy not to place our dogs into homes with young children since we don't have foster homes with young children to evaluate the dogs in such a setting. The adoption begins with the adoption application: we do not have the manpower to respond to detailed inquiries before we receive the application. Our adoption procedures are described on the home page, please read them carefully. A donation of $275 is required at the time of adoption. If you can offer our sweet and happy boy Gary a loving forever home, please submit an on-line application by
