Fancy's Story...
meet fancy. she is a 4 yr. old maltese that was rescued from a back yard breeder. living outdoors with other small breed dogs she was kept in a pen of sorts. she was infested with fleas and lice. the owner shaved her before we got her and sprayed her with raid , of all things, to kill the parasites. needless to say the poor little girl had chemical burns on her skin. her ears were infected, really bad teeth, which had to be pulled. she has a few teeth left. but will need soft food. she is not house trained yet. she is doing better. foster mom keeps a diaper on her when she is about the house.
she is still shy if you come up on her fast. she will cowar down like she has been hit before. but lets you pick her up and love on her. she does like to be held. she plays like a puppy still. foster mom has has little puppies she plays with. she will be a dog that will need constant grooming. maltese have long hair. you can keep it short like a puppy cut ,but that will require regular grooming also. the small breed dogs will live a long life if no medical issues arise. so this will be a long time commitment.
if you would like to meet fancy, please submit the adoption application at www.rescueahart.org,she will be ready july 30 th. for final adoption. she is up to date with vaccines, rabies, parasite free, spay, microchipped, and bordatella treated. her adoption fee is 300. this helps cover all the vetting cost of getting this little girl healthy.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Fancy, a Cincinnati Maltese dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Maltese for sale in Cincinnati, or seeking a Maltese dog from a breeder in Cincinnati.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in Cincinnati already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a Cincinnati breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Maltese breeders who help with Maltese rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in Cincinnati paves the way for another one to be saved.
