My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! I’m Hickory! Are you looking for a snuggle bug? Then I’m your man! I am good for hours and hours of snuggling. Throw in a belly rub and a couple ear scratches and I am yours for life! I am a big snuggle bug though, because I have some Bassett Hound in me as well as Beagle, and weigh in at about 35 pounds.

I also like playing with my foster brothers and sisters, and would love to find a home with another furry friend. I love playing with my toys, too! Foster mom says I do need to work on my manners some more, and she is teaching me appropriate behavior. She says I am learning and improving, but still have a little ways to go.

I can get a little barky sometimes, like when I see a stranger, or another dog. I just want to let them know I’m here! I want to make friends with them. I get a little too excited I guess. Otherwise mom says I’m pretty good on a leash. I’d probably do better in a home where noise isn’t too much of an issue.

I am housetrained, and also crate trained. I’m good at both! I am also really good with kids, although it would be better if the kids were a little older and not too tiny!

I was heartworm positive when Midwest BREW picked me up, but I’ve gone through the treatment to get rid of them, and I am just fine now! I do need the preventative Heartguard once a month, but I don’t mind, because they are pretty tasty little treats! And I think every dog everywhere should be on heartworm preventative, so it’s no big deal!

All in all, I just know I would be the perfect boy for you! Pick me! Pick me! My best snuggles are waiting for you!
