Here's what the humans have to say about me:
This is Nijiko, which means "rainbow child" in Japanese. She is 1 1/2-2 years old. She's mostly Cattle Dog but came to us as a Shiba/Cattle Dog mix. She thinks of herself as more Cattle Dog though so she feels bad being stuck in a Shiba rescue. Sadly she doesn't get much interest from potential adopters because she doesn't look very Shiba. However the important thing is she is safe and now ready for her forever home!
Nijiko is good with adults and kids but can take a few days to warm up to other dogs. Once she does she loves to play! She does best with dogs her size, medium, around 30 pounds. She loves taking walks and being petted. She is very affectionate with people though and she will crawl into your lap and if you don't or stop petting her she will paw at you.
Niji has been fostered with cats and while she's never harmed them she will follow them around a lot so not sure yet what that behavior will manifest into. For right now she may be best in a home without cats.
Nijiko is potty trained but can get excited if she doesn't get out the door fast enough first thing in the morning or when you get home and may have an accident. We would not recommend leaving her loose without anyone home. She will go right into her crate for her food but she can bark in her crate so no apartments. She used to be nervous walking on leash but now does great, but not sure if she would be a good running partner yet. She is good with short chain link fencing and makes no attempts to escape.
Nijiko's adoption fee is $200.00, a reduction from our usual Shiba mix adoption fees since she is more obviously Australian Cattle Dog than she is Shiba. Her adoption fee includes her spay, microchip, deworming, distemper vaccine and professional training course.
