Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Frankie was one of 7 beagles surrendered by a hoarder. Like all of the other of this man's dogs, Frankie has had no veterinary care, nor many pleasant encounters with people other than seeing food dished out. Our volunteer was still pulling ticks off him on the drive from the shelter to the vet. And like the other dogs, once the leash was attached, Frankie dug in with all four feet. He had to be carried to the car.
Although his little world has just been turned upside down and all he's ever known is gone, Frankie hasn't yet figured out that this is a GOOD thing. He is clearly frightened and therefore is considered a flight risk... at least until he figures out that life is no longer threatening at every turn. This means he will need a securely fenced yard and another friendly dog from which to take his clues. For his adopter, it will be a joy to watch this boy transform from cowering fearfulness to outgoing, confident and loving dog. If you've never taken part in this miracle, it is one of the most satisfying and fulfilling things you could ever be part of.
Frankie is a handsome boy with beautiful red ticking.
