Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mary Rose: 3 to 4 yr old female declawed dilute calico Persian
Regular adoption fee: see below
She has a little cloudiness in one eye. That happens sometimes when there has been an eye infection. Often the cloudiness fades with time, sometimes it stays. I don't know which is the case with Rosie.
However I think this cloudiness caused a misconception that almost took her life. A nice, well intended shelter worker thought she had cataracts. She therefore guessed at her age as being 13 yrs or so and therefore Rosie was not going to be put up for adoption. Rescues weren't going to be interested in her either.I t is hard to place older cats no matter how beautiful.
I have a extra fondness for dilute calicos sort of in honor of a very special Persian girl I once had. When we took Rosie in the first thing we saw was that she had cloudiness in her eye not a cataract. Her other eye was normal. Then we looked at her teeth. it is well know that Persians have terrible teeth. They fall out, turn brown, cause gum disease and are usually trouble. Generally any persian 5 or 6 yrs old really needs a dental procedure. Rosies's teeth are actually white, none are missing and her gums are pink and healthy. She is a young, beautiful declawed girl who was almost euthanized in the shelter all due to mischance and bad luck.
And look what a treasure she is. Wow. She is affectionate and well behaved. Easy to love and easy to handle. She is not a prima donna rather she is a good natured, agreeable girl. She acts like she was loved and well taken care of. Her coat is in good condition. How she
ended up declawed and in a shelter by age 3 I don't know. Perhaps
her owner passed away. Something happened that wasn't her fault at all. ( Her shelter paperwork came up missing so we really have no "
intake information" about her history. )
It doesn't matter what her past was. She will have a new life with someone who will be very lucky to have her warm, companionship around their home.
You can see how lush and full and beautifully colored her coat is.
She has a solid body but is not overweight- what you see is just her wonderful fur. Rosie has a classic persian face, the old style persian face, which means her nose is lower and more functional than some of the super flat faces you see. Therefore she is lucky to have no breathing issues or eye drainage issues caused by those more extreme breeding practices. Her nose is outrageously pink.
I have just gotten her and don't know her well. I will write more when I do.
