My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Smoke was rescued by a cat loving visitor from California - she was found relaxing near her car wheel - not a good place to relax. As much as she wanted, she could not take smoke with her so she asked us for help. Our vet determined that Smoke is about 6-8 weeks old and generally in perfect health. She got her first vaccine and was tested for FIV and FELV. This is where the problem comes - Smoke tested positive for feline leukemia FELV (negative for FIV). FELV is more serious of the two and more contagious. Smoke has to be separated from other cats and kittens in case her status is confirmed by a second test in a few months (at least 30 days after the first test).

The "false positives" are pretty common especially for such young kittens. We cannot take any chances and must isolate Smoke until the second test confirms her FELV status. But there is a high probability that she will turn out healthy.

Please consider fostering this cute kitten if you do not have any cats or kittens (positive or negative for FELV - we don't want her to catch FELV in case she doesn't have it).
If you want to adopt her regardless, we will retest her, vaccine and spay her for you.
