Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We would like to explain that if you are looking for a perfect dog, they are rarely found in rescue. Our dogs often have unknown histories and we do our very best to evaluate each dog with kids, cats, and other dogs as well as determine how they behave in a home. It is important to understand that we have some specific criteria for each dog based on their backgrounds and input from their foster families. The purpose of these criteria is to better match each dog with an appropriate family. While a certain dog might appeal to you based on breed, size, gender or appearance, you may not match the listed criteria. Please understand that we are not trying to make adoption difficult—we are trying to make each adoption successful for the dog and the new family.
PLEASE CLICK ON "READ MORE ABOUT THIS PET" FOR COMPLETE INFORMATION!
If you have children, we suggest that prior to applying for a dog, you view the website http://www.livingwithkidsanddogs.com. The information is excellent and can help you determine which dog would be right for your family.
Elliott is an adorable, tiny chihuahua puppy who was rescued from a local impound. He is 9 months old and weighs 3.1 pounds full grown! Elliott is a playful little boy and due to his tiny size we are seeking a stay-at-home adult or one with older teens. He cannot be adopted by young people who plan to take him to college, carry him in a purse, etc. Anyone with children in their future will not be safe for him as he is so tiny and can easily be injured. Elliott is actually quite a feisty little fellow who is very playful with other small dogs, barks at cats, and is house trained to both outdoors and puppy pads. He loves sleeping under the covers at night. He will do best with an experienced small dog home and a securely fenced yard that is chihuahua proofed at the bottom and at the gates. (Just a small area will be fine) Another small playful dog will be best and at this age he needs his adult to be home much of the time. Elliott came to rescue with no vet care. He is with a 501c3 non profit rescue and his $300 adoption fee covers his neuter, heartworm pill, frontline, all immunizations and worming and he has a HomeAgain microchip.
To ensure that this dog thrives in his new home and that the adoption works out for the dog and your family, these are the requirements for adoption. These criteria are not negotiable. If you do not meet these criteria, please choose another dog that will work out better for your family.
• Homeowners: Required
• Status of adopter: 35-55 years old
• Previous dog owning experience: Small dog experience required
• Age of children: Late teens
• Another dog in the home: Small playful dog preferred
• Cat(s) in the home: Will bark at cats but can't do them any harm
• Fenced yard: Small securely fenced yard highly desired
• Time alone on work days: Needs someone home much of the time to continue training and socialization
