My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

ELLIE BELLE urgently needs a foster or forever home due to an adopter reneging on her! She is a 16 month old mastiff/weimie/pit/??? mix; only 70lbs but tall and long. Her behaviour is VERY mastiff. She is extremely sweet but needs a quiet home willing to let her decompress for 2 weeks to a month before expecting her to be good with strangers, at BBQs, etc. Ellie led an extremely sheltered existence for her first year, abandoned by a rescue in a tiny vet boarding kennel. So everything is alien to her! She is FANTASTIC in the home, affectionate, obedient, house and crate trained, and nondestructive. She is great with other dogs of ALL sizes, and ignores dog-savvy cats. She bonds to her new "people" very quickly... but she does not suit a busy household as it takes her a month to fully settle in to her new environment and until then she will bark at strangers in the home (easy fix: crate her upstairs when guests are over!). Although she is wonderful with kids (she is so gentle with my 2 year old) we prefer a home for her without children as kid homes are busy homes. Ellie is an absolute treasure, a wonderful dog who, for a patient owner willing to give her time to settle in to the home, will make a superlative and beautiful lifelong companion.
