A short video of Annabelle fetching a ball: http://youtu.be/QSwL7kmhzkY

Annabelle is a VERY friendly, affectionate, playful and sweet cocker spaniel. She is also as smart as a whip. Annabelle gets along very well with other dogs in her foster home, and often initates play with them. She also loves to meet new dogs, and greets them in a friendly manner. Annabelle is estimated by the vet to be around 1 to 2 years old (at the most). She LOVES to be pet and get belly rubs. Other favorite activities including scampering around the house, from one pet bed to another, play-wrestling and teasing the other foster dog, who easily weighs twice as much as she does. :-) As you can see from all the photos on her webshots link, she loves to play with toys as well. Her tail never stops wagging! She knows the command "sit" and takes treats very gently. She knows how to "fetch". She very much enjoys our walks in the woods and then just hanging on the deck while I read, sitting at my feet. We (the vet and I) feel she is likely a purebred cocker, or possibly a cockapoo (cocker / poodle mix). She weighs about 18 pounds, and needs to gain a pound or two. Annabelle would do best with a moderately physically active family and ideally, a fenced yard to keep her safe.

Annabelle was found in an abandoned house in rural Kentucky; the owner had moved and left her behind with noone to care for her. Subsequently, she was brought to a pound with a high rate of euthanasia in Rowan County, KY.

When Annabelle was found, she was extremely matted and needed to be shaved to the skin. These were some of the worst mats the rescuers in Kentucky, the vet and I had EVER seen. Some of the mats were 3 inches thick, and she is a tiny girl. :-( The first two photos posted here on this listing are the "before" photos. Despite her obvious neglect, she is very loving and animated. She was a huge hit at the vet office when she had her wellness check. The vet also discovered she had been spayed (there is a spay scar), so someone did care for her at one time.

You can view new photos taken after Annabelle was shaved down (she feels sooo much better!) and on 7/26 and 7/27/12, playing with her foster brother and on 7/30/12 and 8/2/12, playing with kids. There are 57 photos to view at this time: Copy and paste: http://pets.webshots.com/album/583168130zkmUit

Annabelle has very mild entropion in one eye (Entropion is the turning in of the edge of the eyelid (usually the lower eyelid) so that some lashes rub against the eye surface). The vet says it should not be a problem, although she will be slightly more susceptible to eye irritation and conjunctivitis (pink eye). This is common in purebred cockers.

Annabelle is up to date on routine vaccinations, heartworm negative, and crate trained. She is on heartworm preventative and frontline.

Fuzzy Face Rescue's adoption process includes an adoption application, reference checks and a home visit. We will only adopt to people who are located within 90 minutes driving distance from the 06371 zip code. Exceptions are occasionally made if I have a good rescue friend who lives nearby your location who'd be able to complete the home visit (NY, NJ, VT, NH, ME, RI) Please email us at scruffafluffrescue@gmail.com for an application if you are interested in adopting Annabelle!

Annabelle is being fostered in Lyme CT.

PLEASE NOTE: Just to be clear, we do not know if Annabelle is a cockapoo; She appears that she could be a mix of cocker spaniel and poodle, but that is not a guarantee, nor can we guarantee that she is hypoallergenic. So, if you require a hypoallergenic/non-shedder, Annabelle is not the best match for your home.

ANOTHER NOTE that if you use yahoo or AOL (or any other email other than gmail), email may end up in your spam box, so check it frequently if you have inquired on or applied for Annabelle. This has happened repeatedly to applicants when I send the application to them; the applicants think that I have not responded, when in fact my email to them has ended up in spam.
