My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MELLOW, EASY GOING Beagle Guy

Meet Declan (from Criminal Minds). Declan is a 5 year old, 35 pound, mild mannered guy who just loves to hang with the family. He is crate trained, good with other dogs and good with cats.

As you may see from his pictures, Declan has three legs. Don’t know what or why the back leg was removed, but don’t feel sorry for him; he goes out running with the other dogs, it doesn’t hold him back. I guess he’s gotten used to not having it, I guess we should to.

So what kind of home is Declan looking for?

A family of course, one that includes other dogs and/or kids. He really hasn’t shown a lot as far as play with the other dogs, but that doesn’t mean having another dog isn’t important for company/friendship.

He is good on a leash so a fenced yard isn’t absolutely necessary and a trip to the doggy park wouldn’t hurt him either once a week.

He doesn’t need a crate and though he is crate trained, he doesn’t necessarily like going in it unless it’s a very large crate (don’t ask me why. I have a large crate for my two girls and he loves it in there; maybe it’s the fluffiness of the quilt???). I don’t crate him; I just put him in the room where I crate my dogs. He has a big fluffy dog bed and is perfectly happy with that. But of course the option is there if needed (make it a large crate with a nice fluffy quilt).

Declan is such a happy boy. I really haven’t found anything negative with him. He’s kind of a move in ready kind of Beagle.

If you’re looking for mellow, easy going, good on leash, good in the car and one who just loves you so much, you really need to meet Declan. There’s no training here, he is ready, set and go to his forever home. You will reap many rewards from Declan like his smiling eyes when he sees you; he truly is a wonderful dog to have around. You’ll never feel alone with him by your side.

Come and meet Declan at the following Petsmart Adoption Events: third Sunday of each month at Machesney Park, IL. Please check the calendar on our website just to make sure which event he will be attending. He really looks forward to meeting you.
