Katie's Info...

Katie's Story...

Katie, a pretty, 6-year-old, bright-blued-eyed, spayed female, Lynx Point Siamese-mix, is in need of a new home. Because of the death a few years ago of her original adopter, and health issues now challenging his widow, Katie is taking applications for prospective new homes.

Six years ago, Katie was discovered at about 3 months of age, living in an old tire in a field in southern California. She likely was someone's lost or abandoned pet, as she was very friendly and people-oriented.

Katie is extremely bright, loves people, and bonds with those who are kind to her. She loves to play with cat toys, enjoys spending time with her people during daily activities, and would adore time in your lap. Katie has had supervised experience with the outdoors, though she has happily been an indoors-only kitty for the last year or two. She is a quiet sleeper, and promises not to disturb you if allowed to share your bed. When you are awake, Katie will enjoy discussing the events of the day with you, and although she has strong opinions, she is an excellent listener and is always willing to consider the other side of the story.

But Katie has one simple requirement: NO OTHER CATS. Likewise, dogs wanting a kitty companion need not apply; Katie will veto them. Gentle children (perhaps older than 7 or 8) would probably pass muster with Katie.

If you think Katie will approve your credentials as a cat lover and prospective adopter, please do complete and submit an online application, and Katie's personal assistant will contact you. If your application looks like a match, she will set up a date for you to visit and interact with Katie at her foster home. Katie says, 'Let's take a meeting!'

The Fine Print — While Community Cat Rescue would love to make our adoptable cats and kittens available to everyone, everywhere, we must limit our adoption service area to San Francisco Peninsula cities and towns. We simply do not have the volunteer-power or financial resources to make home visits (required for all adoptions), delivery of adopted cats/kittens and follow-up visits outside the Peninsula. An occasional, rare exception might be made, but it is not the rule.

About Our Rescue Group...
Community Cat Rescue was formed to improve the lives of homeless cats through adoption, promotion of spaying/neutering, TNR and colony management and educational outreach to the public. We are a group of experienced rescue and TNR volunteers who have developed a network of foster homes for rescued street cats, and a regular program of outreach for adoption and education at local farmers markets, public events and at pet stores and shopping areas. We host a minimum of 3 outreach events per month, and often as many as 6 events. In addition to adopting out cats as family pets, we also have an active TNR program, including relocation of feral cats as "working cats" to appropriate homes if they are not safe in their original territory.
Come Meet Our Pets...

Our Adoption Process...
Potential Adopters fill out an adoption profile and application to help ensure that the cat or kittens they are applying for is/are a good match for their household. This is followed by an interview (phone or in person). All of our cats are in foster homes, so we know their personalities very well and can help you make a great match for everyone in your home.

If there are other pets in the household we provide assistance in introducing the new cat(s). We have lots of experience with multiple cat households, and we will work with you to make sure that everyone gets along and is happy. Cats or kittens can be returned to us within two weeks if they do not fit into your family or household.

Our contract specifically prohibits declawing and requires that if the new owner find that scratching is a problem, they return the cat to us rather than declaw.

Our adoption fees are $75 for a kitten (or $125 for two kittens)and $55 for adult cats, all of whom are spay/neutered, micro-chipped, immunized, treated for fleas and worms and given any required veterinary treatment before adoption. The value of these treatments is several times the adoption fee!

Since we are a volunteer group, we ask that in lieu of adoption fees, adopters donate to the Palo Alto Humane Society's Animal Rescue Fund, which helps rescuers in the local area.
