My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 09/07/12: Hi again! It's me Bear! You can read all about me down below, since this is just an update. I got neutered, which wasn't fun, but foster momma let me do lots of snuggling and soon I forgot all about it. This foster home thing is pretty great. I get stuffed kongs full of good food, long walks, trips to the dog park, and even some training! My mange is clearing up and I have a cute short haircut now -- feels so good to have some sunshine on my skin in this beautiful Virginia weather! Sometimes I still get a case of "stranger danger" and think that new people are for barking at, but I'm learning something called clicker training which is really helping me have excellent doggie manners. I even know the words "sit" "crate" and "come" now! I'm still looking for that perfect forever home! I would love a doggie playmate (or being the only dog in your life) but I might be a bit too rambunctious for a shy cat. Apply to adopt me soon!
INITIAL BIO 07/31/2012: Hi! My name is Bear, and I am an adorable 1 year old yorkie. I am roughly 12 pounds and am being fostered in Charlottesville, VA. I consider myself quite the gentlemen for being so young, because I am already crate trained and housetrained, as long as I am taken out regularly. Speaking of the outside, I just LOVE my walks. I think they are my favorite part of the day. I walk well on a loose leash and I promise I can walk for as long as you can. Right now I am still learning how to deal with new experiences in life without letting them scare me, so I think a nice confident owner would really help me experience all the great things that are out there. Other dogs get along great with me but I wouldn't mind being your one-and-only either. I think I would excel at obedience training, even agility or rally because I am very smart and very focused.

There's just one little thing: right now I am having a flare-up of a condition called demodectic mange. It is caused by a mite that is naturally present in all dogs, sometimes they multiply too much and take over. So right now I am getting plenty of medicated baths and medicines to help my skin and hair return to their former glossy shine (plus, I'm going to be noo-tered, which will help me!)! If you adopt me, I promise to repay you with plenty of love, snuggles, and funny antics!
