My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Update 09/07/12: Hi again! It's me Kiko! Most of the stuff you need to know about me is down below, but I've been so busy that I just knew you needed an update. I got neutered and had two pesky baby teeth pulled at the same time. They were just hanging out in there bothering my grown-up teeth, so they had to go. The neutering is helping to clear up my mange along with my yummy supplements of coconut oil and apple cider vinegar. And medicine, of course, but that stuff is not so yummy! Soon I'll be all better and I am SO hoping that a wonderful family will adopt me soon! All you have to do is love me, take me on long walks, and maybe even do some fun training. Oh, I know the words "sit" "crate" and "come" now. Aren't I smart? Foster momma says I am very people-focused, food motivated, and energetic, which is a super combo for things like agility and obedience competitions. We could learn together!

INITIAL BIO 07/31/2012: Hey! I'm Kiko, and I'm looking for my forever home. I'm only a year old, and let me tell you, I am cute-cute-CUTE! I am being fostered in Charlottesville, VA. I have glossy fur and a happy smile. I don't want you to think I'm all looks though! I walk nicely on a leash without pulling, and I am quiet as a mouse in my crate, no whining or crying from me! I am working really hard on my housetraining, and I think I'll have it down soon. Since I'm so young, I haven't learned things like "sit" or "down" yet, but we could take a training class together, because all doggies should be good, well-behaved citizens. A training class could help me experience some new things too, since sometimes I have trouble coming "out of my shell" in new surroundings. I am very friendly with other dogs, so if you already have one or two that's just fine with me. To be honest I wouldn't mind being an only-dog either.

There's just one little thing: right now I am having a flare-up of a condition called demodectic mange. It is caused by a mite that is naturally present in all dogs, sometimes they multiply too much and take over. (One of the big causes of this is hormones....... so I'll be neutered real soon!) So right now I am getting plenty of medicated baths and medicines to help my skin and hair return to their former glossy shine! I should be ready for adoption in a couple of months. Are you looking for a little playful, fun-loving guy like me!?
