Stevey's Story...
Stevey was rescued at the last minute from San Antonio Animal Care Services. He had been there past his stray hold and was headed for euthanasia when one last plea was sent out via e-mail and MHCR stepped up to take him. It was apparent that he had not been exposed to the life that he should have. Stevey barked at toys thinking they were going to come to life, he was nervous to come in the house, and not sure of his surroundings. Stevey quickly picked up and learned toys were going to be fun to play with and life was grand. Stevey is very sweet and still little timid but he is coming around. Loves to play with the little dogs and is just starting to chase after a ball. Stevey is very sweet and gentle and will make a wonderful pet.
UPDATE: Stevey is a wonderfully energetic and affectionate dog. He gets really excited when he gets to go outside on a walk. He is crate trained and will sit quietly until let him out. He is good about entertaining himself with toys. He has had no accidents inside the house. He loves attention and will love it if you just sit down and give him a good back rub or belly rub from time to time. He would make a wonderful companion to anyone that is willing to love him. He currently weighs in at 45 but could use a few pounds. He is also learning what a house is all about, we don't think he was ever aloud in.

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Stevey, a San Antonio Border Collie dog was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Border Collie for sale in San Antonio, or seeking a Border Collie dog from a breeder in San Antonio.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in San Antonio already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a San Antonio breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Border Collie breeders who help with Border Collie rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in San Antonio paves the way for another one to be saved.
