Ella's Info...

Ella's Story...
Ella is a beautiful Blue & Gold Macaw. She is very quiet and still adjusting to her new foster home. She will say "Chip" when you hold one up and ask what is it. She will wave bye-bye and put her wings out when asked. Ella can say, "What's wrong?" "It's ok," "Hello," and "Mom." She likes the song Take Me Out To The Ball Game to be sung to her. Ella is a good eater and loves all kinds of fruits, bread, veggies, birdie bread, nuts, noodles, etc.

Ella is very good about stepping up and letting you pet her. She enjoys being outdoors in the sunshine and seems to like being sprayed with water. She is very good about staying on her cage and has been spending most of her time outside of it, so she can come and go from inside the cage as she pleases.

Ella has plucked some of her feathers but we are working on that, and she seems to be making good progress. She has been around children and with one family her entire life. Ella is a good-natured, sweet bird who would make a wonderful companion for a single person or family.

Ella's approximate hatch date is 2001, and her adoption donation is $500.

For information on some of the characteristics of this bird, see this Species Profile page: http://www.staravian.org/species_profiles_cont.html#Macaw

Why Adoption is a Great Option

Ella, a St. Louis Macaw was adopted! Here's how you can benefit by looking at adoption as an option to buying a Macaw for sale in St. Louis, or seeking a Macaw from a breeder in St. Louis.

  1. Rescues and shelter volunteers in St. Louis already know the personality and tendencies of their pets. This means they can match you with the right pet. That will makes it much easier transition to owning a pet for yourself and your new pet.
  2. On average adoption fees are much less than you'd pay a St. Louis breeder, or pet store. Plus most often rescue pets have already been to the veterinarian for a check-up, had a round of vaccinations, and are spayed or neutered. That is a lot of savings!
  3. You will become a hero, and give a needy dog or cat a loving home. In fact, there are even Macaw breeders who help with Macaw rescue. One puppy or kitten adopted in St. Louis paves the way for another one to be saved.
