My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Its difficult to deny much of anything to this handsome face! Murphy is a big, lovable pup with a smooth, black coat and silky natural ears. He is between 1 and 2 years of ageand still has a lot of puppy enthusiasm. He loves to run and play with toys, so hes going to need a lot of exercise. Long walks after eating do wonders for this fella, and he seems to be able to go for hours! Hes remarkably calm in the house, though, (probably because he was raised in a small apartment) and what he wants more than anything is a lot of LOVE and constant cuddling. This boy is a big baby! Hes more than a Velcro doghes almost part of you! Hes capable of learning his limits, though, and knows his basic commands like sit, down, and stay. He is also beautifully housebrokenwhich is ALWAYS a nice quality. He will walk nicely on a leash, but hes terribly distracted by all things outside (probably because he never got out much) so he will still need some manners and, of course, a group training class. Murph likes other dogs, very big or even tiny, and he wants to playbut when challenged by a dominant male he does stand his ground and raise his hackles. He will need continued socialization and training to be comfortable around others on a regular basis. Like most Dobes, he is quiet most of the time, but he will make a lot of noise with a BIG, loud bark if strangers are outside the house. He is very calm and gentle with kids, even small little ones, despite his size. He came in around 75 poundsbut that was a bit too skinny for his frame. He will probably finish growing and filling out between 85-90 pounds. This boy is definitely not good with cats or other small furry animals. Were working on crate training, but he is still a little too fearful of being enclosed so its fortunate that hes well-behaved in the house. If you are looking for a big, handsome Dobe boy, you really should meet Mr. Murphy! He is a winner.
