My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi there – Lexi here! Well, my name was Scarlett a long time ago. I’m going to share my story with you so I hope you will understand where I’m coming from. 5 years ago my mom, who was a beautiful German Shepherd dog, was found by a volunteer at YLDR. She was found to be pregnant with me and my 9 siblings. I was named Scarlett then and grew up in a nice foster home. I was adopted to a family at about 9 weeks old. I can’t really tell you what I’ve been through – but it’s sad to say that they decided I wasn’t for them anymore. It broke my heart so much – my family of 5 years! They had named me Lexi and that is what I know now so that’s what I will need to stick with. Anyway – they said none of it was my fault. Something about a divorce and kids going off to college and I had to go.

So, now I have found myself back in my original foster home when my name was Scarlett. Crazy how the world works – I really thought I had found my forever family! So, now I need a family that will truly vow to stick with me and not give up on me.

I am a really great dog. I am a shepherd mix and look a lot like my mom did. I have the true German Shepherd personality traits – extremely loyal and will bond quick and fierce to my people. It takes me just a moment to get to trust new people but then I am good with them – doesn’t take long. I have a lot to talk about and my bark is pretty loud – my foster mom is working on that and I am getting much better with time. It’s just all so confusing, you know?

I really need to be in a home with a big fenced yard that will let me play a lot during the day. I love to get my exercise. Another playful dog would be ideal! A family that would work with me so I wouldn’t have to be in a crate when they are gone would be great too. I was left too long in my crate in the past so now it’s just not my favorite place to hang out. I’m scared I’ll be left I there again. I’d like a bed with a human to sleep with at night. I’m a super cuddler and I just need some best friends. Apartment living would not be for me at all though.

I am potty trained and have had no accidents in my foster home. I ride very well in the car. I need someone willing to rescue me forever and in return I’ll love you and rescue you right back!!

Lexi (previously named Scarlett) is a GSD mix, DOB of July 2012, who is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations.
